STIRLING TO ESSEN (Available through the author)

Launched at the IWM Duxford Summer Air Show in 2017 this true story of a XV Squadron aircrew has sold 1600 hardback copies, and though a Fund run in their name by the Author, Roger Leivers, thousands of pounds have been donated to local, national and international causes.
The book focus’ on the life of the Captain, Squadron Leader Matthew Drummond Henderson Wilson, a pre-war rally car driver who joined the RAF and became a flying instructor, ferry pilot, test pilot and finally, in November 1941, a Bomber Command pilot. Based at RAF Wyton, but flying out of RAF Alconbury with XV Squadron, the book covers the building of his crew, the raids they went on, and most importantly what became of each of them. Check out the Amazon reviews to see what people thought of it.
On the morning of the fateful crash, 11th April 1942, two of the crew lost their lives, six survived, three of those survivors would not live to see VE Day. The reader will learn the fate of each airman, their lives often decided by fate. The book also connects to the Battle of Britain and even the Holocaust, one of the crew had a Jewish Czech girlfriend, she and her family were sent to Theresienstadt.

Now a paper back copy is available at £12.99 (£4 P&P), signed and dedicated copies
can be purchased by contacting the author, Roger Leivers, via email at
